Hot fun in the Summer time

Its officially a week into summer -- you'd think with all the rain, storms, heat and humidity it was August!

Given the heat, the kids' interest in being outside was shorter than normal added that to the fact they don't tend to nap anymore (makes for long weekends!), for our sanity we turned to the good ole backyard pool!  It works wonders until they start fighting over the toys (bad Mommy for only having one toy watering can!)

On a hot summer day nothing is better than a nice swim -- even ask their Daddy!

Construction Complete!

It took a little longer than expected to get our "little" landscaping project started thanks to all the rain we have been getting, but the crew started on Monday and finished the last touches today!  Now that it is done and we need rain, I am sure it won't, so there goes our water bill for the summer!

We are SOOOO THRILLED with the results!!  I believe the landscaping crew thinks we are nuts as we just were giddy when all it was graded dirt and how nice that looked!!  Once the sod was laid, I (and Randy) felt a sense of pride in our house (finally). I still smile each time I walk outside!

We aren't much for landscapers -- green grass does it for us, so this backyard is perfect.  I think the landscapers -- while probably an easy project -- were still pretty impressed with their work as they had their iphones, ipad and cameras out snapping shots when it was done.

The boys loved all the activity in the backyard -- tractors, skidloaders, ROCKS, people etc.  They screamed when all we would let them do is observe from out the window.

We just have the kids playset to set up which probably will be done later this month as we need to let the sod settle, but it is all coming together!

The best part of the backyard is that it is now a fortress!! No kids can escape (we have a couple boys who tend to break out on occassion) and we don't have to get creative with trash cans and patio furniture to insure that!

A Graduate in the House?

It was a big night in the Stanford house --
1. We undertook a landscaping project -- well we didn't I guess undertake it, we hired experienced professionals to do the work -- anyway they are about 90% and it look AWESOME!  Post to soon follow!

2.  I am posting a blog -- got a photo dump coming soon I suppose

3. WE HAVE A GRADUATE IN THE HOUSE!!  It is a pretty big deal to our 3 year old preschool graduate, she's already talking about college -- L just doesn't quite grasp there are a few steps in between preschool and college.  I wish it was that easy!

The program was nice -- and my goal is to get a video uploaded as the kids were cute.  Leighton started the program off ok and then for the last 3 song just twirled her hair.  The boys got a kick out it -- they kept saying "there's sissy, there's sissy"  and the stood on their chairs and clapped after each song and each name read off.

A little party after

Bubbies don't mind a cookie

or two....or three

Luck for us -- Fairfield High School commencement was Sunday so WalMart had 1/2 off day old cupcakes, fitting for our party!
